Orange Shirt Day tomorrow
If you have an orange shirt, please wear it tomorrow. We will be discussing in class the importance of why we wear orange tomorrow. Orange Shirt Day is a day to recognize the Every Child Matters. The story behind Orange Shirt Day involves a First Nations girl who wore a new orange shirt on her first day of residential school. Her orange shirt was taken away and she was not allowed to speak her language or wear what she wanted. You can also wear your blue Bridlewood shirt or a color close to orange such as red or yellow.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are planning a walk to the pond in the morning of Thursday September 26th. This is an opportunity to find their own "Nature Nook" and practice journaling. We will also be able to see the Public Art created by Bridlewood students with Artist in Residence Sharon Fortowsky. We will be returning to school for lunch.
We do not need any volunteers for this walk.
Kind regards
Erin Sanders and Victoria Boyton.

Grade 2/3 Team
Monday, September 9, 2019
Dear
Parents/Guardians,
My
name is Mrs. Erin Sanders and I am your child’s Grade 2/3 Teacher. I look forward to learning with your child
this year and would like to take this moment to share some information with
you.
It’s the start
of an exciting new year. We’re off to a great start
and we’re looking forward to an enjoyable and productive
year. It is important that parents and teacher work together for the best
of the child. Therefore, open communication between home and school is of
utmost importance. Please contact me about any concerns you or your child
might have.
My
classroom blog can be accessed through the school website or through the
following link: https://bridlewoodroom75.blogspot.com/
Our
first week of school will be spent primarily on establishing school and
classroom routines and expectations, getting to know each other in our learning
community and establishing a safe and caring learning environment.
Students
will have designated doors that they should use to both enter and exit the
school. The students of Mrs. Baker, Ms Penonzek, and Mr. Bhachu should enter
and exit from the doors closest to the playground. The students of Mrs.
Sanders, Mrs. Ashacker, and Mrs. Boyton come in and out from the compound
doors.
Students
should only enter through the front doors if their designated doors are closed
and they are late. It is helpful for students to establish a consistent meeting
spot so that they may connect with siblings and parents after school.
If
students are bringing phones to school they need to be kept in backpacks and
turned off throughout the day.
Please
ensure your child has the following items:
-
healthy snack and lunch that consider potential allergies within
the school
-
water bottle with a sealed lid to prevent spills
-
a pair of outdoor shoes that they will wear only for outside and a
pair of indoor shoes that will remain at school and are appropriate for gym (if
shoes have laces, your child must be able to independently tie them)
-
all items brought
to school should be labeled with your child’s first and last name
Thanks
for helping make this year the best possible learning experience for
your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to
contact us at the school. We’re looking forward to
our time together being filled with many smiles and lots of learning! I
look forward to the school year. If you
need to contact me, email is best. You
may also call the school at 403-777-6259.
